A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston

I saw someone say this book is a love letter to romance readers and I couldn't agree more. While this book comes off as a romance, I truly think the focus as you're reading should be how (romance) books find their way into our lives and change the way we feel about multiple aspects of our own lives. The ways that they bring us comfort and that sense of escapism by sending us into a new world to meet characters, while also reminding us to grow ourselves in our real life and find what speaks to us most when we have to face the world.
Elsy finds herself stuck in the small town from her all time favorite book series. She meets her favorite fictional characters and knows exactly how their stories go. Then there's Anders. The only person whom Elsy can't figure out what role he played in this fictional series. We navigate Elsy's new connections with this town, helping them find their HEAs while also trying to find hers. We follow her along this journey of self discovery as she realizes what she truly wants out of life.
I absolutely adored this book. The concept is amazing and the message really spoke to me. I felt at home while reading this book. As someone who has always loved reading and the way books made me feel, I've never had a book make me truly realize why I feel that way. A Novel Love Story brought me that understanding.
The way this story connected from beginning to end was so refreshing. The magical realism was a nice aspect, although I did feel like we didn't get enough information on certain things about how the magical realism worked in this story. I also felt like we needed more closure on the fictional town and how it actually came to be. I know a lot of people have average feelings about this book because of the lack of a truly developed romance but I don't think this book should be seen as a 100% romance. Go into this looking for a contemporary fiction that is more so geared to you as a reader and not our main characters. You will find the true meaning of this story that way.
A Novel Love Story is truly one of the most beautiful books I have read. If you love reading, this book understands why.
