I never read this as a kid and I'm glad I didn't. It would have broken me. I absolutely loved this book. I loved Jesse and Leslie and their vivid imaginations and love of life. I loved how they made each other feel loved and accepted and like they had a place in this world. This story is so special and I'm glad I read it, even though I'm about 10 years too late.
