Mimi’s conflicted about the relief she feels when she comes back to attend the funeral of her murdered brother (Geronimo ‘Brian’). A weight seems to be lifted as she spends quality time with her family (mom, sister Danielle, cousin L.J.), friends (BFF Anikah), and makes the acquaintance of Brian’s pregnant GF (Ava). But her reciprocated crush on Anikah’s brother (Dominick ‘Nick’) makes her ponder making a life there. This was well-written and one of the most relatable romances I’ve read in a while. My only complaint is that the epilogue was unnecessary and opened up more questions.
