Esme's Life as a Ten-Year-Old by Vicki Baxter
5.0
Vicki Baxter’s Esme’s Life as a Ten-Year-Old is a real gem of a children’s book. Written as if Esme is talking to readers they are given an insight into Esme’s life.
The writing is easy to engage with and the language certainly suits the audience which is perfect since they will feel connected to Esme. I also liked how the book will create a sense of ease and understanding to younger readers who’s parents may be in a similar situation to Esme’s. We see the divorce through different eyes but instead of seeing it as something bad or scary, with Esme’s funny and truthful views we get a better understanding of what it’s like.
The little drawings throughout added that extra touch of realism and I think this is a brilliant book to start children talking about their own life be it in the classroom or with friends and family. All in all this is really cute book with some good messages throughout.
As always thank you to ZooLoos Book Tours for the copy to review. My review is always honest and truthful.
