I personally rank The Two Towers as my least favorite of the trilogy.
I find the chapters with Merry and Pippin to be a little annoying, and Aragon and company, though entertaining, somewhat lost without the Hobbits to balance their more striff development. I know I will get crucified for saying that, but both the first and the last installment do their own strengths better than The Two Towers.
It's part of something good, but I can't say my experience was crazy or anything. The good bits are good though, Theoden getting awoken by Gandalf was cool, dude rocks.
