The Long Game by Rachel Reid

5.0

Truly no one is doing it like Rachel Reid writing Shane and Ilya

I burned through these 500 pages in a single day for this reread, it's that fucking good. I'm not sure anyone's captivated me by writing about an established couple as much as Reid has. I adore every character in this book, the entire Centaur's team has my fucking heart, I would die for any of them.

This book is a lot of smut tbh....more than is probably necessary and rereading I definitely skimmed some of those scenes, but they're well written and fit with the plot and the book is SO so much more than just erotica.

The whole story is magic. Shane and Ilya are up there with my favorite couples of all time and I could read about them endlessly. I am ridiculously happy with their ending, but more than anything I need to see them win a Stanley Cup together. I have a feeling we'll get that in the next book and I cannot fucking wait. This is one of those sequels that somehow manages to be just as good as the first.

"I love hockey, and I deserve to have the career I want for as long as I want it. I've earned that. But if I had to chose...I'd chose him."

FUCK. YES.

THIS WAS EVERYTHING

I was so stoked when I heard there would be another story for Shane and Ilya, I love these two so much and could honestly read an entire series dedicated to them and their love story alone. This was everything I wanted and more, and even though I think their story might be done now I hope and pray we get a third book at some point. I cannot get enough of these two EVER.
