The Walking Dead, Vol. 17: Something to Fear by Charlie Adlard, Cliff Rathburn, Robert Kirkman
5.0
As I was trying to think what to write for this review, I got to thinking about the series as a whole and how I started reading The Walking Dead. I liked zombie books/movies because the humans in them unite, despite their normal beliefs and prejudices, to fight against a threat to humanity as a whole.
The Walking Dead has strayed so far from that ideal, and I still absolutely love it! The appearance of the new villain, Negan, has proven that humans are a much bigger threat then the walkers ever were. Honestly, I think it is more realistic that way, and am that much more of a fan because the series has made such a believable post-apocalyptic world. I can't end my review without mentioning that this volume contains one of the most horrifically gory images in the series (possibly any graphic novel I've read) this far. I just about started crying while I was reading it and I could not get that image out of my head for a couple days after. Like always, I thought this edition to the walking dead was amazing and I'm excited to see what happens next!
