I didn't mind reading this, as it's well written. The gothic horror tone is perfect (it's giving Turn of the Screw). I just didn't care about what happened. I could have stopped reading halfway through and not been bothered.

My last few reads have taught me that I'm a basic bitch that needs a plot, pretty writing be damned. If you squint real hard at this one, there's a plot, with the few "twists" foreshadowed early. But it's mostly just disturbing imagery and exploration of very dark themes.
