Lord of Chaos by Robert Jordan
2.0
Finished a second read-aloud to my wife and sun. This is as far into the series as I've gotten (both have been aloud, to my family), and now I've done it twice. Will I forge ahead to book 7? Probably. I'm routinely annoyed at Jordan, but not enough so at this point to call it quits. I do begin at this point to look forward to getting to the books that Brandon Sanderson wrote.
This one was dull in a lot of places and full of stupid, silly posturing and politics. I'm all for bringing the human element into books, but Jordan caricatures things like spats and squabbles to death so that they just become frustrating page fillers. Sometimes I've wondered if Jordan ever actually did meet a woman in his life. Or, for that matter, a man.
It's not really a very good book, but the ending is exciting at least. Here's hoping #7 is better.
