Holly by Stephen King
5.0
This book has everything you could possibly want, and most of what we have come to know from SK stories: some mild horror (not too weird or out there for me), some crime investigation, some smart characters who are all likable, just enough dialogue, and a layered story that comes together without being trite. Reading his acknowledgments after I finished gave me even more appreciation for how he put this one together.
At first, I wasn't sure if I should be reading this without having read the other stories involving Holly; Holly and two other characters are the only connections to those stories, however, aside from a few callbacks to events or character names that popped up. I'll go back and read those eventually, as Holly is a great character that is well-developed and very well-loved by SK, and for good reason.
