It's difficult to say what my feelings for this book are. There are parts of the story that changed in the story because of the "what if...?" And I don't think they would be affected. In the end it was necessary that they changed to tie the story together, but I didn't like it anyway.

And I really didn't like the ending, because it was contradicting the spell that the beast was cursed with in the beginning.

But in general really like this story, it was heart-wrenching and I cried more than once. It seems to be the reoccurring theme in the twisted tales that the villains of the story, are portrait more evil than and the movies.
How the magical beings were treated in the story reminded me of some very prominent and horrible historical occurrences. I don't want to elaborate more at this point. But it was amazingly built into the story and and explained so much about why the people in the story did what they did.

I would really recommend this book to every more or less grown up person, who likes Disney and thrilling stories. But I think there should be trigger warning because it's filled with physical and emotional violence.
But all in all an good book.
