Girl A by Abigail Dean

DNF - I do not rate books I have not read all the way through because I give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they pulled it back at the end. Life is too short to not enjoy reading though so I read to 118 and then gave up. It was poorly written and confusing. The premise was interesting but every chapter was supposed to either be about, or in the voice of, a different character and I couldn't tell the difference. This author also does that thing where to avoid over detailing a novel, they pull it back the other way leaving the reader perpetually confused. You can choose to do that when you are sure which character is speaking, or narrating. But you cannot have character confusion and such a scarcity of detail that you don't even have anything to go on. At least, you can't for me and have me enjoy it. The book made me stressed. Books shouldn't do that.

I have read some other reviews and there are people who clearly enjoyed it, so what do I know?! Feel free to make up your own mind.
