The Kingmaker's Daughter by Philippa Gregory
3.0
Hello!
Finally got my hands on a Philippa Gregory I hadn't yet read! Thanks to my husband, as he got it for me for Christmas. :D
I haven't really read any books that pre-date King Henry VIII, but in addition to this one, I read 'The White Queen' who is actually about Elizabeth Woodville, and is the other half of THIS book, who is about the Brother in law and his wife, of Elizabeth Woodville.
I read The White Queen first, so I kind knew what was going to happen in this book, however, I did not expect the book to end as it had, and I don't recall this ending being in The White Queen either, BUT, Gregory does do a great job about tying the books together through things such as Richards painful sword arm in the Kingmakers Daughter, with Elizabeth Woodville actually casting magic in The White Queen', to hinder Richard with this pain.
I don't think it's her best work, but I do like it, even though it's certainly not my favorite thus far.
I plan on owning and re-reading Gregory's entire collection in chronological order at some point.
Definitely worth owning. It's fiction sure, but historical fiction and she does such a great job at RESEARCHING her books and the people in them, that you have a very great idea of what ACTUALLY took place in that time, or what could have taken place, since there is such speculation about several events of that time period, such as the disappearance of Queen Elizabeth Woodvilles boys, the young princes in the tower.
I would LOVE to find out what ACTUALLY happened to them!
