Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology by Shane Hawk, Theodore C. Van Alst Jr.

challenging dark emotional medium-paced

4.0

An incredible collection of stories that is both diverse and strong. I think I experienced the whole range of human emotions and had to spend some time decompressing after some of them. We've got monsters (both human and otherwise), the intersection of personal and societal expectations (and oh, the horror of having to juggle those while remaining true to yourself), colonization (again!), and so much more! Not a single miss in this anthology, but my favorites were Kushtuka, Heart-Shaped Clock, the Longest Street in the World, Eulogy for a Brother Resurrected, and Collections.
