“I hope someday you find someone worth coming out of your closet for, and I’m sorry as hell that it wasn’t me.”
It’s a good thing I’m into the story and that I like Tony a lot, because man do I dislike Mac, lol. I know he’s stuck in a shitty no-win situation, but wow is he extra sucky for no reason sometimes. I mean: Here’s hoping he starts redeeming himself soon.
The murder mystery in this one was really good again and it kept me interested all the way through. Also appreciate that there was more mortal peril. If a romantic suspense book doesn’t have a near-death experience, I don’t want it, lol.
Looking forward to seeing how the situation with Mac and his coworkers is in book 3. I’m hoping Tony interacts more with them.

“I’m not a stranger,” he growled, moving his mouth lower. “I’m your man and don’t you forget it.”
I don’t want to see you and I don’t want to hear your voice, and I don’t fucking want to have you stand up and tell a judge what a good person I am when you can’t even say you love me in private.

Spoiler
Your boyfriend’s friend has just been murdered and he’s become the guardian for a traumatized 6 year old, and Mac’s first concern is the fact that he can’t fuck his boyfriend that night?? Garbage man moment. (And yes I realize that having had a secret relationship leads to a lot of intimacy and sex and maybe not a lot of other things, but damn, be better, lol.) I also can’t get behind the mindset that having a hateful, extremely religious ‘role model’ for your young child is better than no mother figure out all. Ridiculous. The murder mystery in this one was really good again and it kept me interested all the way through. Also appreciate that there was more mortal peril.
