The Orphanage By The Lake by Daniel G. Miller
dark
fast-paced
2.5
book club read.
Not really the type of book I would have picked up for myself, but I did enjoy it. It was interesting to immerse yourself into the life of a private investigator. It was a quick, easy, ready. I didn't see the ending coming and honestly hoped that it WOULDN'T be what it was. It adequately gave me the ick, but that's a me problem.
Also, it annoyed me the fmc was a PI and had no self defense training, no gun, nothing but a taser. Like ma’am these are the scum of the earth and you’ve been assaulted more than once ARM YOURSELF .
If SVU is your jam, you will enjoy this book.
Definitely needs trigger warnings.
