The Insider by Ridley Pearson
5.0
I don't think I realized until after I finished the book and noted it down into my reading journal that it was over 600 pages long. I certainly didn't feel it to be that long. As a final installation to the original part of the Kingdom Keepers series, I thought it was a great book. I couldn't gloss over how cool it was to learn about how this book was written. Ridley essentially crowdsourced parts of the book - reaching out to his fandom to contribute their own suggestions and writing. And he included it in the final book! I can only imagine how amazing that must have felt for some of the young authors whose contributions got chosen and were included in the book.
In terms of plot, it was a bit complicated, a lot more intense, and overall, did a good job tying all the ends of the series together. I loved the Mickey plotline and I loved the fact that it took place in a park I know and love. Don't get me wrong, the Disney World parks have made awesome settings for the past books, but having this book take place in the OG park made the final battle so much more powerful and poignant.
