The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

5.0

“Love has to be stronger than hate, or there is no future for us.”
This is such a good piece of historical fiction. I couldn't put it down. Kristin Hannah has taken the lives of some extraordinary people as inspiration and fashioned a fictional story that depicts what life might have been like for two courageous sisters in France during the Nazi occupation as they live through the trauma, do what they have to do to survive and work to save the lives of those around them. Both of the two main protagonists are truly an inspiration. One in terms of being a true friend and parent and the other devoting one's entire life to fighting for the freedom of others. I highly recommend this book.
