Did not finish book. Stopped at 45%.

For a while I really wanted this to be a case of "It's not you, it's me" - because I loved the first book so much - but after 2 weeks of trying to finish this (including some super focused zero distraction reading time), I think it's time to admit that it's not me, it's the book.
Although the first book in the series was chaotic and strained credulity, this one felt way more aggressive on both fronts. I wasn't invested in wanting to know what the big reveal was, I wasn't invested in the low-key love triangle, and I wasn't invested in continuing my journey with the Donovan family - to my utter sadness.
HOWEVER, I have been seeing way more positive reviews than negative, so I would suggest reading a couple chapters to see how you feel before making a decision!
