The Accidental Guardian by Mary Connealy
5.0
Books that take me back to the western territories of the US in the 1800s are always my favorite historical novels. Mary Connealy's book did more than that. It reminded me of reading a Louis L'Amour book with one major exception: there was more romance. And the romance wasn't "boom! There it is"; it gradually developed and had a beautiful growth to it.
As for the characters...I loved each one. They had quirks and personalities that were all their own. In a time where kids became adults sooner, this was shown perfectly. Actually Trace reminded so much of Tyrel Sackett (my favorite Sackett boy!). I'm glad I chose this book to read and I know I will read it again and again, and pick up on nuances that I missed before.
