This book is very intense, I’m surprised there weren’t any trigger warnings in the beginning. However this book is very good. There are clear inspirations from Lord of the Flies and Stephan King. The book has multiple POVs including the scout boys, the scout master, the original test subject, and includes articles/interviews/media to continue the story. At no point was I sure where this book was going. There’s a clear ending to the story, however the story keeps you guessing and on your toes the whole time. Although the gore is very intense, it was all there to add to the story instead of shock value. Overall this was one of the first horror books that truly had me on edge and feel everything that the characters were feeling.
