Bomb: The Race to Build--And Steal--The World's Most Dangerous Weapon by Steve Sheinkin
5.0
Would recommend: YES
I'm going to go out on a limb and put this book in the Required category of WWII reading (along with [b:Hiroshima|27323|Hiroshima|John Hersey|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327719015s/27323.jpg|1014091], by John Hersey). The author did such a good job laying out the factors involved in building the atomic bomb and the espionage surround it without getting overly complicated with the science, history, or politics. He constructed vignettes to illustrate the critical moments in multiple timelines to great effect. READ IT.
I am a total history dunce, but I do enjoy reading about history, even if I don't retain anything. But now I'm thinking, maybe the key is for me to read history books intended for younger readers, because I am basically in 6th grade when it comes to this subject area.
