Imperfect Skin by Myf Wren

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.
Daddy Cal had left the building, and in his place stood my Dom, in all his sexy glory. Shirtless and dressed in an old, frayed pair of black denim jeans, he oozed authority and dominance.
It’s difficult to put my finger on it, but there’s something about this particular world and small town that I really, really love. It just feels so real to me. The characters are so genuine and realistic, and I want to be a part of their friend group. They have the best kind of found family. It’s like I can damn near see the British coastal village in my head and smell the dang ocean while I’m reading it.
Outside stuff aside, I have been looking forward to Mouse’s book since the first time I read Viking Ink. He’s perfectly broken and in need of someone to see through his bs, and Cal is perfect for him. I was kicking my feet with joy when their relationship started evolving, I was so excited for them, lol. They are super cute and sweet but also burn-the-sheets hot. For example, fisting really isn’t usually my thing but the way it was written in this book? *fans self*
It’s heavy on spice and kink, both sexual and non-sexual, but it didn’t feel like that was all there was. Their kinky and sexual exploration together felt like a part of their journey and was important to their relationship development as well as important for Mouse’s mental health and healing from grief and guilt. I thought it was really well navigated.
“If you try your hardest to be a good boy for me, I’ll reward you with all the pain you can handle.”
If you’re like me and love the sweetness and kindness that often comes with daddy kink and age play but you’d also like to read more about pain play and more intense impact play, then this is the book for you.
I hope we get some play date scenes (maybe a short novella or a bonus chapter?) with Mouse and Rhys playing in their Middle and Little space together. Those two are absolute rascals and very cute.
Again, there’s something about this little world the author is creating I really enjoy and I can’t wait to keep experiencing their development. I’m also stupidly excited for Doc’s book. That man is a hoot.
PS: it’s refreshing to read about men of all ages, looks and body types finding love and being kinky.

He was going to break me apart with gentleness and I was helpless to do anything about it. The rough touch of his calloused fingers was juxtaposed with the gentle kisses he pressed against my skin.
I had shoved my feelings and childish desires so far back into my psyche that you’d need a map, compass, and Sir Edmund Hillary to find them, and I wasn’t going to let the handsome fucker ruin my hard work.
