Honestly, you can probably tell by the length of this text that I was Into It.
I have not had such a long and intense fixation on anything in a while. I don't know why but the characters and the story just grabbed me by my throat and made sure that I was hooked. So, to say it in fewer words: I AM OBSESSED <3

I actually started this journey with the TV series "The Untamed", which is an adaptation of the novel. I remember a few years back seeing someone on YouTube doing a deep-dive into the Mo Dao Zu Shi (MDZS) fandom and for some reason I guess it peaked my interest and stayed with me until now. Since I recently had time to watch the series I did it. And I LOVED IT!! Since I've watched the TV series and now read the actual novel, I think I will finish this journey up with the donghua (Chinese anime).
I have surprised myself that I'm still not over this story and keep on consuming it in different formats. I have to say, the formats all are different because of restrictions. All the different ones together probably give the perfect overview of the story.

I suppose I was lucky that I happened to watch the TV series before I read the novel. If I had read the novel first, I can say that I would have been a little confused. There are A LOT of characters in this story and they can have three names: a birth name, a sort of formal name and then they can have a special title. And to add to that, there are sects that all these characters are apart of, that also have different names. And of course all these different regions and locations. I know, it can be quite confusing, but I feel like to me it wasn't because I had already watched the 50 episode series and got familiar with the names and all. I feel like the series also had the right actors for all the roles too, like ideal picks! (P.S - The TV series theme song and other songs are *beautiful*, the lyrics too!)

The characters were written excellently and the world building was really really good too!
Like, the story had action and adventure, slow-burn romance and of course the ✨spice✨ in later chapters, paranormal mysteries, humor and ancient cultivation fantasy world settings (Xianxia). UGH, it was great and intriguing!

The main character is Wei WuXian. He is a troublemaker - he is shameless and mischievous but also he is incredible intelligent. Lan Wangji on the other hand is proper and follows the rules (until that someone starts messing around 😉). He is also pretty much silent, cold and respected. He has a constant poker face and almost never shows his true emotions, like seriously. His face is almost 99% of the time just blank, but the 1% is so worth it.
These two were really quite opposites but at the same time they suit each other sooooo much. Their interactions are just gold. Both of them are probably my favourites but there is also Wen Ning, whom I adore!!!! I don't want to say anything about the storyline and how these characters are exactly connected, because I feel like that knowledge should come to those who really want it. I want to leave the intrigue there.

I don't know what to say, because there is so much I want to say, but at the same time I don't want to say anything and just feel.. you know? This is something I will come back to one day to experience it all over again. (update: that time is soon! My book collection is basically finished and it only took a year, not even complaining, I'm so happy to finally get the physical copies of official english translations!)

Heh, that reminds me of something 😏

Every day means Every day.
