Well, that was depressing as hell. Not sure why I keep picking the bleakest books to read when the world is already so dark, but I don’t regret reading this.

The writing style in this book is unique, dialogue blending with inner monologue, blending with the description of the world—took a minute to get used to, but I loved it.

The characters aren’t named (that I remember) but they’ll remain seared in my brain. The bond they shared felt so real and tangible, and the heartbreaking reality of the world made their bond all the more tragic. Beautiful and haunting.
