Wow.

I think this is the first time in my life I’ve finished a book and said to myself, “Well, that was perfect.” There are many, many books I consider favorites, that I love, that mean more to me than anything. But this book, I have no words. No notes. It was perfect.

It was a deeply emotional book that covered a lot of really hard topics. Conversion therapy, homelessness, drug addiction, self harm, suicidal ideation, PTSD, homophobia, ableism. Many, many other really hard topics as well. But you can feel through the written words that the author put in the time and care to research these topics and brought them to life in a respectful and beautiful way. Nothing was ever brushed aside or forgotten.

Silas and Max were flawed people with a lot of trauma and it was healing, at least to me with my own struggles, to watch them address and tackle those conflicts, both together and also individually. This is a romance book but I feel like the love story almost takes a back seat to everything else and I kind of loved that about it.

So, yeah. Perfect.
