I had no idea what to expect going into Piranesi, and I think that made it all the better. I LOVED this book. I could barely put it down, and every time I did I couldn't stop thinking about it. The first half (or so) was especially beautiful - the writing in those journal entries is so charming and colorful, and I felt like I was there with him exploring the halls. Honestly, I would have been fine if we had just stayed in the halls the entire time in ignorance, but of course that wouldn't have been as good of a book. I enjoyed watching the mystery unravel as the main character pieced things together, and maybe I'm just not a good detective but I felt like at no point could I predict how it was going to play out. I will be thinking about this book for a long time, especially the halls.
Graphic: Confinement, Death, and Kidnapping
Moderate: Mental illness
