Beneath the Shatter by T. A. Reilly

The blurb of the book sounded interesting and I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately it wasn’t for me. I almost DNF’d it but decided to push through.

The idea of being sent back in time was interesting and the storyline felt promising at the beginning, but it unfortunately went downhill for me after the first few chapters.

I personally didn’t see any real chemistry between the FMC and the MMC, and felt like they didn’t even like each other after all. The FMC seemed to be just annoyed by the MMC. Also, the mating bond fell a bit flat for me, and I felt like it didn’t really change anything between them.

I don’t know if it was the writing style or what, but I didn’t feel for the characters. There were some parts that should have been emotional, but made me feel nothing. And partially because of the lack of emotion, I didn’t feel connected to the characters at all.

There was some (in my opinion) unnecessary repetition, like the mention of icy blue eyes, MMC’s nickname for the FMC etc.

The world-building of the book seemed interesting and I liked the mixture of older fantasy world and new, more modern world.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
