Lorena Escoto Germán offers in Textured Teaching a challenge to educators to evolve our pedagogy. One of the central theses of Germán's work is that teaching is social justice work. Building on Culturally Sustaining Practice, Textured Teaching is a comprehensive but accessible guide to applying antiracism in the classroom.

For teachers who can do so, I recommend this book as a tool for school- or faculty-wide professional development. If you are in a school where this kind of corporate antiracism work is unlikely to occur, the next best thing is, of course, to work through the text yourself.
