This last book alongside City of Fallen Angels are definitely my favorites of all this series!
The main aspect I loved about this book was that we had a lot of things going on therefore I never felt bored nor did I had to push myself to finish it. I was entertained all throughout the story and I was so happy about that because City of Lost Souls, the book that comes before this one, was so horrible that I was scared to pick City of Heavenly Fire up.
Moreover, we have Emma and Julian in here. Those two small kids are the perfect combination between sweetness and bravery, I loved them like I didn't get to love any of the other characters. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed the characters in this last book a lot more than on the previous ones but I still think they are not that great.
Also, the ending before the last chapter was incredible. I loved the few changes we got and how sad it made me.Not only Simon forgetting his best friend but also Sebastian finally being a normal person, how I wish he could still live to be a good human being. Throughout all the series I pitied him because the only thing that he wanted more than anything was to have his sister by his side but then he would start talking about possessing her and doing whatever he wanted to her and I wouldn't like him anymore. Nevertheless, he was a super intriguing character.
There's still one thing I hated and that's the reason why I can't give this book a 5 stars rating. That last chapter, man, it ruined everything for me! The ending was being expectacular and I could almost feel my heart breaking apart and if it had been that way this was going into my favs list right away but no, all the progress was thrown out of the window on a single chapter. When I thought Clary and Simon's friendship was over and he wouldn't remember his best friend, the person that knew him more than anyone, the person who was always by his side... I was almost crying because we all know their friendship is the joy of my life but then we had the happily ever after trope that didn't make that much sense. It seemed like the autor wanted all her characters to have a happy ending so she invented something which she didn't gave us much detailed about and that was it. HORRIBLE! I wanted my heart broken, that's when you know a book got into you.
All in all, I would say City of Heavenly Fire was a great and entertaining book with a lot more action than previous ones and with a lot more sadness among its pages. An advice, though, skip the last chapter if you are liking how the ending is going up until that point.
