Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

4.0

I really enjoyed this, the story telling was lovely, the character interesting and the relationship 100% believable. I enjoyed the dialogue as well for the most part (except the copious use of the word 'darling' / yes I know these a posh British people but it annoyed me.) Except for that the banter between the character was exceptionally well written. Overall the book was sweet, engaging, interesting and it only took 2 days to read it. I loved the representation and diversity (POC /inter relationships/ plus size/ illness/ disability) and I loved that the characters were facing normal everyday issues and the characters normal people they were insecure, tongue tied, ill, shy, proud etc. It was a dream romance but not a perfect fantasy. So why the 4 star instead of 5? Chloe - I felt that the author was too aware of trying to make the sisters different characters and feel different on the page, that at times they were too extreme in personalities. The subtleties the author showed in writing Red's character was at times missing from Chloe's. Chloe's attitude moved from charming and strong or grumpy but understandable to rude, mean and oblivious at times. I don't enjoy that from my real friends and even less from my book friends (unless it is addresses, you cant just go around treating people like sh*t) Also the build up as good but it is a slow paced book. But overall i would recommend to everyone.
