This book was such a unique read and a much-needed change of pace and style. It was a beautiful story of unlikely friendships and preconceptions, with elements of discussion around mental health and fulfilling dreams.

Every single main character was wonderfully written, and I adored Tokue with her quirks. It was heartbreaking to gradually learn more of her story and past, but I loved how Sentaro started to become more involved to honour her memory. And although we didn’t hear too much about Wakana, she was a welcome addition late-on.

The writing style was beautiful, especially in the various letters, and scenes depicting food/cooking. Overall, I just truly fell in love with this book and everything about it. A real highlight in a genre which I already loved going into this book.
