This book was really up and down for me the whole time. One minute I would be loving it then the next I was cringing and rolling my eyes.

I did really enjoy the chess aspect of this one. It was fun and the first romance I’ve read centered around chess. I also enjoyed Mallory’s family and getting the moments of them bonding and coming to terms with some of their shared traumas.

Nolan was a fine love interest but he really toed the line between creepy and swoony for me. Like if he was a rich chess prodigy some of his actions might have resulted in a restraining order.

Anyway, cute enough moments that I kept reading but probably not one I’ll be recommending.
