I was kindly sent a copy of this book for review from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Your two-year college booty call said he'd call but he never did; six years later he's moving into the house next door...

Immy and her wacky grandmother are finally getting new neighbours four months after the house next door was sold. Too bad it was the last person Immy expected - her college friends-with-benefits who she was lowkey in love with and who promised to call after graduation but never did. Oh, and he has his four-year-old daughter in tow. It may have been six years, but Immy's still hurt by his actions, so she assures him that they're not friends, despite being new neighbors. But Immy's grandmother has other plans, determined to get her granddaughter married before she reads her own name in the obituaries. So when a fake spider in her mailbox nearly gives Immy a heart attack, an all-out prank war commences, just like what they did back in college. With feelings unearthed on both sides, it's not long before they fall into old habits.

Although this book came out first, I ended up reading it after it's companion novel Number Neighbors, which follows Immy's cousin Hannah, so I had already seen Mason and Immy as a couple. But getting their backstory in this was so much fun and I couldn't get enough. While I am a stickler for reading companion novels in publication order, sometimes it's fun to already see the couple together and then go back to see how it all started.

Immy and Mason's connection and relationship was just so easy to read about - it really did feel like they had known each other for years, and Emma wove their backstory so nicely into present day, without it feeling like an information dump each time. In fact, it actually felt like I had kind of known these characters back when they were in college. The one thing I wish we got more of was the prank war. Don't get me wrong, the pranks we got were hilarious, but I wanted more because it was such a fun aspect of the book.

Immy's grandmother is an absolute hoot and had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Actually, there are SO many great lines and moments in this book that had me laughing. Like I said with Number Neighbors, Emma really knows how to balance comedy, cute romantic moments, and the steamy stuff, and Frenemies was no exception.

I now really want a book for Fran and Matt's story! Seeing her navigate a new relationship while co-parenting Maya with Mason sounds like it could be fun, especially with Emma's storytelling!

I've said it before, and I'll say it for the millionth time - if you've not read anything by Emma Hart, you NEED to! Frenemies is such a great romcom and the perfect starting point for diving into her collection - it's the perfect amounts of romance, comedy and crazy relatives to make for a super fun read!
