What Big Teeth by Rose Szabo

challenging dark emotional mysterious reflective sad tense medium-paced

5.0

This gorgeous, haunting, gothic mess of a family. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the mystery and the weirdness. Even though so many of the characters were pretty terrible to each other... I just enjoyed the slow build to a vortex of creeptastic imagery and self-acceptance, especially if that self was the monster (the power) you were denying yourself all along. This book and its descriptions and mood just clicked for me. Part Addams Family, part Shirley Jackson... What Big Teeth was my cup of murky, copper-tinged tea, that hollows out your belly and leaves you wanting more.
