American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis

4.0

Traumatic and chaotic to the core.

The descent into insanity is long and brutal. Ellis’ descriptions of Patrick’s inner dialogue give much more insight into his schizophrenic/OCD driven behaviors. The torture scenes are as depraved as they come, and Patrick’s complete indifference to what he subjects others to is numbing.

Though to some extents it adds to Patrick’s bizarre hierarchal mental state against others, the book could probably drop a solid 50 pages worth of detailed lists of designer outfits and have a smoother flow to it.
