Hate the One You're With by Kendall Hale
4.0
Years ago Caleb Cunningham and Emmersyn Langley married to outmaneuver her manipulative controlling grandmother so that she could access her trust fund and afford her college tuition. After a blowup, the two separated, and although they were estranged, they never divorced. Fast forward to now, and Em’s grandma has passed away, but not before meddling one last time and forcing Emmersyn to live with her husband for 6 months, or forfeit her inheritance, and the jobs of everyone at the company she’s worked so hard to build.
There are a lot of things I enjoyed in this book. Caleb is the dirty talking, down bad, alpharoll of my bookish dreams. Emmersyn is a baddie with a gooey center who has been making her way on her own for so long that she doesn’t even know how much she needs a soft place to land. Some slightly hinky motivation for the marriage of convenience and reunification pulled me of the story just enough to land this read at a solid 4 stars for me.
Thank you so much to The Author Agency and Kendall Hale for the ARC opportunity!
