Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

Wow, what an awesome ending to this series! It’s long, but super engaging all the way through, and an absolute roller coaster ride of emotion and action. After a bumpy start (I struggled a bit with book 2) the series went from strength to strength, and I would highly recommend sticking with it through to book 3 and onwards. For me, it was a satisfying conclusion and gave me everything I want out of a great book - an awesome, epic story and equally awesome, epic characters. Maas has a particular skill at juggling multiple plot threads that come together in such satisfying, exciting ways. And as for the characters, I really enjoyed the main character Aelin, liking her more and more as the story went on. But! Manon Blackbeack-Crochan is one of my favourite characters of all time, if not my favourite. Her character arc throughout the series is just wonderful. I adore her!

If you love epic fantasy, definitely get onto Throne of Glass if you haven’t already!! (I’d also note that from about book 3 onwards, it’s not strictly young adult any longer, and becomes quite graphic and explicit in areas)
