The Time of Singing by Elizabeth Chadwick
4.0
This is book 4 in a series so unless something really unusual happened, you're unlikely to suddenly dislike a series you have loved. So it will surprise you, not at all, that I liked this. I know it's in the William Marshall series but this book isn't really about him. In fact, there's massive swathes of the book he doesn't appear in at all. The story centres on King Henry's teenage mistress. We're talking War of the Roses Henry, not any of the later ones, and her husband. I'm definitely learning more about this time period so there were some events I knew were coming but I'm not that knowledgeable so there were also some surprises. Elizabeth Chadwick is one of my favourite historical fiction novelists and this is another banger.
You actually don't need to read the rest of the series to enjoy this so feel free to jump right on in.
