Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews

Long running urban fantasy series remind me of TV shows. Each book is an individual adventure, and there may be a little character development or relationship status change to mix things up. I guess you have to either really care about the characters or enjoy a generic whodunit. I know at one point I thought the characters in this series were great, but now they could be from any urban fantasy series out there. What drew me to the series no longer applies and I don't see anything here that sets this apart. I assume at some point the big bad will have to be confronted again, until then the gang will tackle one paranormal threat after another, and I'm not sure how much I really care anymore.
