I had high hopes for this novel. Another teacher had suggested it as one the school should invest in, so I read it with the hope and intention to read it with my students. After finally slogging through this book, I could never recommend it.

I found the characters stale, the story stiff and at times confusing. It seemed to try and pull in too many elements that all of them fell flat and just made the story tired and ineffective.
