The Sisters by Claire Douglas

mysterious fast-paced

3.5

This was a pretty messed up book. It wasn’t the most twisty or mysterious thriller, but it was enjoyable to read. It was well written, easy to read and fast paced. I liked the perspective we were reading from, although I would have loved there to be more. Maybe a few POVs or even a dual timeline would have added a lot to the story. This was definitely more character driven than plot which I actually really liked. There were a lot of different dynamics explored within this book - I absolutely loved exploring the twin relationships and how they were written. Abi, Bea and Ben were all incredibly complex and interesting characters. I loved following them. They were all a little crazy and I honestly didn’t trust any of them. They creeped me out at times. The dynamics between them were so weird and uncomfortable at times. I did feel really bad for Abi after what she went through and I understood her paranoia. The plot was bizarre. I expected there to be some big mystery involving Lucy but it wasn’t like that at all. The big reveal was something I expected from very early on in the book. It still shocked me because of how… disturbing it was. I was so mad that Bea went back to Ben. It’s so disgusting to even think about that. The ending was pretty good though. Overall it was a good book. Not the best ever but I liked reading it.
