Over the Top by Jonathan Van Ness

5.0

I very rarely give books 5 stars and in this case it is not for the writing. I love you but a novelist you are not. It is for the sheer force of personality and for not taking the easy way when you absolutely could have. I could hear Jonathan saying every word and that made the story more engaging for me. They have been through some really awful stuff and while there was a bit of sugarcoating, understandable as you don't want to traumatise your readers, there was honesty too. Especially when they have said upfront that they worry telling everything will result in people no longer loving them.

I enjoyed the relationship to food as a child because that's one I shared and I just soaked the whole thing up and in the end it made me feel more positive. I am very much glad I read it.

Who gave you permission, honey?
