5.0
a powerful and gripping story
pros:
- really strong narrative and dialogue voice, or maybe just a voice i'm not used to finding in fiction.
- really gripping and well-written, plotted and paced nicely, never felt like it dipped or dragged
- relationships between characters felt real and side characters were well-developed
- Bri had agency and motivation and she used it
- the rapping parts added a lot and were great
- also strong political message that was never preachy
- satisfying ending
cons:
(- Bri did frustrate me with some of her choices, but she's well-written character and only 16, so it makes sense.)
would read more by the author for sure
