Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

5.0

MY POOR, LITTLE HEART. I don't even know what to say about this book--this series--except that it touched my soul. For a maximum, heartwrenching effect, I strongly suggest reading The Mortal Instruments first because it will add even more texture and everything will strangely tie into The Infernal Devices.

In this final installment, the suspense kept me turning the page. I was unable to put the book down. To be able to go back and time and meet the characters that created the heritages and history for the characters in TMI blew my mind. Throughout the entire book, I was constantly wondering about the fate of Jem and who Tessa would choose to give her heart to in the end.

Despite everything, I was still shocked by the concluding events and the final battle with Mortmain. I felt as if my heart was shattered and then repaired again with tape. Everything was so sadly fragile and sentimental that my heart ached just as badly as Tessa's did in the end. I was just struck so hard with the feels, like a dagger to my heart.

It was also very fascinating to see the legacies of the Lightwoods, the Fairchild, the Herondales and all the others and how their made history tied into TMI. Suddenly, things became crystal clear. I was particularly shocked with that terrible blow that Cassandra delivered about Jem's fate. That really got me in the end.

I want to say that I enjoyed The Infernal Devices just a bit more than The Mortal Instruments, but I'm quite convinced that I would have never enjoyed it as much as I did if I had never read TMI. Being given the knowledge of how things actually happened and why they occurred the way they did, resulted in a bittersweet feeling in the end.
