This book is pure rage. The Poppy War is full of violence, revenge, and ambition. It is cut throat in its brutality, but it never feels unjustified. The main character searches to rise above her station and eventually seeks revenge for the genocide of her people. The book asks us, what would we be willing to do to hurt those that have hurt us? There is so much heart and catharsis in this book, while still tackling hard concepts. However, if you are a bit squeamish please check the trigger warnings before reading.
