All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood
5.0
I think a 5 star book can help you change your perception of the world, has vivid characters and an interesting plot. This book has all that.
It also has tough, uncomfortable subjects that I can see some people quickly giving up on. If that is where you’re at, that’s ok. We are all in different places in our own journeys.
I thought the author did a tremendous job with a compelling novel that weaves in great, unique characters that challenge what you think you know. Despite the uncomfortableness of the situation, it’s hard not to root for Wavy and Kellen.
Wavy’s parents are meth dealers, and her mother has mental health and drug addiction issues. Wavy has certain eccentricities, like not talking and eating out of trash cans. One of her dad’s lackeys is Kellen, and he has his own challenges. These two develop a tight bond despite their formidable age difference.
