Start a war was a wild ride, and I loved what it was setting up! We got to see Bliss while she was a young girl struggling to survive and her brother's sacrifice for her. I liked seeing where her life ended up going since she grew up with her father, but I hate that she and her brother were estranged when we saw her as a young adult. It was a lot of fun to see her learn about her brother's life and how she vows to figure out who killed him. Plus, we got a why choose scenario. Even though we don't really get to see that in this book, it gets set up. I love Bliss and her men, and I love them even more in later books, but I really loved everything that this first book was setting up.
