The most depressing and deeply moving book I’ve read in a long time, probably ever. As someone with a deep deep fear of climate change and what it means for the world, this book put words to a yearning for a kinder world and consuming hatred I feel when thinking about our future.
Franny is a deeply flawed human (aren’t we all), but her desire to connect with the freedom and beauty of nature is beautiful to watch, even if it is mostly destructive. This book is poetry and sadness, and a teeny tiny kernel of hope; and I think everyone should read it.
