And Don't Look Back by Rebecca Barrow

dark mysterious medium-paced

3.0

I did expect this to have more of a horror vibe, but this story is actually a thriller, about a girl who returns to her Mom's hometown to find answers to her secretive past. This is a story of complex families, with plot twists I didn't expect.

The story starts off on a high note, as Harlow survives a car crash but her Mom did not. However, as the story progressed, I did find myself growing bored, as the answers seem to come to Harlow, rather than her chasing them.

The ending was so twisty, it was brilliant however. I didn't guess any of it, and when I thought I'd gotten all the pieces together to make Harlow's past make sense, the author dropped an absolute bombshell of a plot twist. This has one of the most solid thriller endings I'll read this year.
